The minutes of the meeting of the Overview and Scrutiny Climate Change Sub-Committee held on Thursday 7 December 2023 were confirmed as a correct record by those who were in attendance.

The Corporate Director Environment has submitted a report to the sub-committee presenting updates on the draft Climate Change Strategy and the findings of the recent public consultation.

The Chair thanked the Democratic Services Officer, Daphne Courtenage, for all her hard work and wished her all the best in her future endeavours.

 

The Corporate Director Environment submitted a report to the Overview and Scrutiny Climate Change Sub-Committee, presenting an update on the draft Climate Change Strategy and the findings of the recent public consultation.

 

The Climate Change and Environmental Projects Officer, Sammy Gray, introduced the report. She highlighted that the next steps following the public consultation were to appoint consultants to prioritise the action plans and update the strategy.

 

Members made several comments regarding the lack of responses and the need for improved communications regarding climate matters.

 

The report was noted.

The Corporate Director Resources, Clare James, has submitted a report updating the committee about the delivery of the Overview and Scrutiny Climate Change Sub-Committee Work Programme 2023/24. Daphne Courtenage, Democratic Services Officer, will introduce the report and respond to questions and comments from councillors.

The Corporate Director Resources submitted a report to update members on the Overview and Scrutiny Climate Change Sub-Committee Work Programme 2023/24.

 

The Democratic Services Officer, Daphne Courtenage, introduced the report.

 

The Chair gave an overview of the key matters following the latest Electric Vehicle Charging Points in Wyre Task Group meeting held on Wednesday 13 March 2024.

 

Members discussed waste and highlighted that this was something that they would like to review in the future. Communications, housing and transport were also mentioned.

 

In relation to the next meeting, the Chair suggested an item on the agenda to discuss the connections between the Local Plan and the Climate Change Strategy.

 

Members also suggested that the Communications and Visitor Economy Manager attended the next meeting along with the Climate Change and Environmental Projects Officer to discuss communications with residents regarding Climate Change.
