Report of the Service Director People and Places

Decision:

The Service Director People and Places submitted a report requesting approval of the revised cemetery rules and regulations and changes to the out of borough fees.

 

Decision

 

The portfolio holder agreed that the revised cemetery rules and regulations be approved and that the changes to out of borough fees apply apart from where exemptions have been made.

 

The portfolio holder noted that in light of the recent announcement that the Ministry of Justice has introduced the Children’s Funeral Fund effective from 23rd July 2019, the council will be eligible to claim allowable fees from the children’s funeral fund and therefore bereaved families will not now be charged these fees, subject to meeting the eligibility criteria contained in the guidance for the funds for children.
