Attendance at this meeting - impact of pandemic

Minutes:

The Mayor reminded those present that as a result of the restrictions on indoor gatherings currently being imposed as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the capacity of the Council Chamber was limited.  As a consequence, a number of councillors had been unable to attend the meeting, for which they should not be penalised, and this would be reflected in the minutes.

Report of Councillor David Henderson, Leader of the Council.

 

Minutes:

Councillor David Henderson, Leader of the Council, submitted a report to establish the role of Mental Health Champion. He referred to the particular relevance of establishing the role during Mental Health Awareness Week and commented that Councillor Julie Robinson was particularly well qualified for such a role. He referred, specifically, to her long-standiung membership of Lancashire County Council’s Joint Health Scrurtiny Committee and interest in related areas.  . 

 

It was proposed by Councillor Henderson, seconded by Councillor Alan Vincent and agreed unanimously that Councillor Julie Robinson be appointed to the role of Mental Health Champion until the elections in May 2023.

 

Councillor Robinson thanked the Mayor, the Leader and councillors for her appointment.  She was pleased to be the first Mental Health Champion in the borough and underlined the importance of the Council shaping changes to mental health policy and so improving the mental health of the community, in which she looked forward to playing a key part.

Appointments to Committees, Panels and Groups 2021/22 pdf icon PDF 178 KB

Report of Councillor David Henderson, Leader of the Council and Garry Payne, Chief Executive.

 

Minutes:

Councillor David Henderson, Leader of the Council and Garry Payne, Chief Executive, submitted a report to enable Members to be appointed to the Council’s Committees and other Panels and Groups.

 

It was proposed by Councillor Henderson, seconded by Councillor Alan Vincent and agreed, unanimously, that all the current Committees, Panels and Groups be reappointed for 2021/22 with the same number of places on each and with the same membership as in 2020/21 except:

 

(a)  That Councillor Cropper be appointed to the Licensing Committee in place of Councillor Sir Robert Atkins;

 

(b)  That Councillors Sir Robert Atkins and le Marinel be appointed to the Overview and Scrutiny Committee in place of Councillors Cropper and C Birch respectively;

 

(c)  That Councillors A Turner and Webster be appointed to the Employment and Appeals Committee in place of Councillors R Amos and Le Marinel respectively;

 

(d)  That Councillor A Turner be appointed to the Audit Committee in place of Councillor Holden;

 

(e)  That Councillor Orme be appointed to the Councillor Development Group in place of Councillor Collinson.

 

And that Councillor Berry and Councillor le Marinel be re-appointed as the Wyre Council representatives on the Police and Crime Panel for Lancashire for 2021/22.
